Can someone tell me how can I find license plate information at no cost? For Free?

both of the previous two answers are incorrect. There are websites that allow you look up the registered owners of vehicle license plates.
In 17 of the 50 states, this is considered PUBLIC INFORMATION.
I dont know of any sites that allow it for free however, sorry.

If you mean owner information, you are out of luck. The Federal Privacy Act prevents most individuals from being able to access that kind of info. Only certain people can get that info and it has to be within the boundaries of the law...
d b I know I don't consider my name and address to be public info, that's why I get my phone unlisted too...I don't think any douchebag who doesn't like my driving should be able to find out where I live. I work for the DMV and I understand it is a Federal law, so I don't know why some states are holding out...maybe it has something to do with paying for it, not getting it for free; or maybe it is the method these companies use which circumvents the law. All I can say is it won't be long before they can't do it either. Mark my words.

You must have a LEGAL reason to obtain vehicle registrant information (e.g., you were the victim of a hit-and-run and got the license plate number). Otherwise, this info cannot be divulged to the public at large, as per the Drivers Privacy Protection Act.
