Have heard that is more common for male euro children to use tights than in the U.S., maybe because is colder there.
We discussed it and want to settle the question.

I'm from Europe myself and can say that our boys really wear tights till they're 5 or 6 years old - I know a 9 year old who still wears them. It's really colder here.
But we don't use tights as sleepwear - there are pajamas or just underwear.
When little guys get older they stop wearing then saying tights are for girls.
