i believe in an eye for and eye because thats the way people learn. you need to sometimes know how it feels or know that there are consequences for your actions. however confucious says that an eye for an eye leads the world blind. its one thing if you kill someone i believe you should be killed, but if someone slaps you turn the cheek as jesus would. i guess you could say that we need to start looking at things in grey and not black and white.

The Society that believe in "An Eye For An Eye" started in 2002 when a Catholic Priest in Boston USA abused for over 30 years 130 children. The end of the Roman Catholic Paedophiles Church will be destroy by the Global Warming. Italy will be under the sea and it will never again be found on the map. When America finish destroying the Muslim in Iraq, America will invade the Vatican and impale upside down the Pope in the St Peter square where the Egyptian monument is standing. The Catholics will get a taste of their own medicine. The same instruments that they used during the Spanish Inquisition will be use on the Catholics Bishops. The new chair of the Pope will be a chair with double edge sharp knives.

If you had any idea what the Biblical phrase an Eye for an Eye meant in the Biblical reference then you would say, Yes.

In fact you do live in such a society.

the term an "Eye for an Eye" dose not mean you take out the persons eye it means you pay the value of it.

This was calculated by several factors including medical bills, lost wages, and suffering.

Or what we call punitive damages.

you see you learn something new every day ;)

I think that rule is meant more for deterrence than actual revenge. If the punishment fits the crime and someone's just gouged out your eye, you're actually saying "look, nothing can make up for what you did, and only if I gouged your eye out, things will be even"...no none of that "I got the doctor's certificate saying I'm mentally imbalanced and need therapy so I shouldn't be held accountable for my actions or get punishment"..and so on, if you knew you'd lose an eye for gouging someone else's eye, you'd think twice before acting...even if you were consumed with rage

No. Wouldn't that put you on the same level, as the person that committed the injustice in the first place?

Imagine a world where someone accidentally runs over a child. In the parents eyes, this person must pay, so they purposely run your child down in the street. Just imagine .....

As Gandhi said, "An eye for an eye leaves the entire world blind." Vengeance is a common desire, but it seldom is justice. People need to be made whole, but they do not need a windfall or a sense of victimhood.

No. That'd be rediculous. What would you do, then, in the event of a person who likes to go around and fondle women? Would you fondle him? That would be incentive to do it more.
