Dang I get this all the time, I actually use it to my advantage to weed out the weak, and find that most of the folks that I am around aren't what I would want to be around anyhow. That is why advocacy is important.

Nothing about having a disability makes you less of a human being. The problem is with the person doing the judging. Most people don't stop to realize that most disabilities are in fact diseases, or caused by disease. and that nobody with a disability asked for it. They see disability as being retarded or something or even weak. People fear that which they don't understand, and since most people don't educate themselves instead of judging they stay ignorant to the truth. Nobody would treat someone with cancer like they treat the disabled. I have a disability and know how it feels, but I don't let small minded people get under my skin.

Your issue is how you view yourself. I know because I felt the same when I had to deal with my disabilities. I accept that there is not always a communication there, even with people who love you. But that was there before my problems. I just related it all to my disability, because I was upset and unable to see anything in myself but my differences. I finally got a grip, and learned to keep my anger from being misdirectied on others, making me out to be defensive and unapproachable.
Good luck.

you are NOT less of a human being for having a disability. in fact, being strong and dealing with your disability makes you have a stronger character. there are awful stigmas out there. you MUST NOT give in to them. please, whatever you do, do not let this bring you down. remember that you are a human, that you are worthy, and that you are loved.

it doesnt make you less of a human being, it makes you more of one. everyone has flaws, its accepting them and moving on that people need to work on. just because one has a disability doesnt mean they are not capable of doing everything they want to if they set their mind to it. so you are human just like me, unless you are originally from mars or something like that :)

Of course it doesn't. It makes the person judging you less of a human being. Varied abilities and differences is what humans and humanity are all about.

Don't let small minded people make you feel bad.

if I notice you have a disability it wont bother me at all..... if you tell you have a disability then I have to ask... why do you find it necessary to point out that you have a disability... am I supposed to say something? am I supposed to treat you differently? what is it that you want that you arent getting from me that makes you tell me you have a disbility?

sometimes we sense others think of us as less of a human being by the behaviour they display....

they will change how they speak or text, they may change their stance, their facial expression, their tone of voice.

what they are actually saying is.... oh I hadn't realised,... oh I am sorry... umm what am I supposed to say or do now... in other words they are saying that they themselves are inadequate.... not that you are ...

what we hear is..... oh you are only part of the person I thought you were... oh you don't quite measure up do you....

In 99.9% of case it is a misinterpretation of the unsaid (subtext) of conversation that makes you think people are thinking bad things about you when they are actually thinking themselves a bit inadequate

Your definitely not "less" of a human being, and don't waste your time with people who make you feel otherwise.
