we got him fixed recently and he has been into the doctor for an infection over his eye. he was treated for tape worms. they said he was a tom cat and he was very healthy. he looked good then, but about a month later he started licking himself a lot and pulling out his fur. i have been picking up his food at 7:00 p.m. and working him out with a string attached to a stick. it's in patched too. i brush him with a flea comb and he might have 2 or 3 a day, but hes outside a lot. what do you think?

if the hair in question is centered mostly on the rump area over the spine, then it sounds like an flea allergen dermatitis, otherwise the only other things i can think of are alopecia and hyperthyroid

Tape worms come from fleas. They are serious. If your animal has fleas he will have more tape worms. There are treatments to put on cats to keep the fleas off of him. When you put a cat outside, the animal is open to anything that comes his way. It sounds as though he has picked up some type of skin disease or worse. You need to go back to the vet and quickly. He is sick.

I would venture to guess either thyroid or an allergy. My dog used to scratch off her fur but vet prescribed spray helped alot.
