I am going to be going to Vancouver and Victoria for a few weeks soon. I live in Winnipeg and have mildly dry skin (as long as I put moisturizer on after a shower I am totally fine) and I am wondering if I will need to worry much about this. I have been to Orlando, Florida and I didn't need to put on moisturizer due to the relatively humid climate, and I am wondering what the humidity in Southwestern BC is like compared to Florida and Winnipeg.

I've lived on the Prairies, and I live in Vancouver now, so I can assure you it's totally not as dry on the coast, but it's not nearly as humid as Florida (or even southern Ontario). You'll probably have to use moisturizer, but a little in the morning will go a long way.

Well the ferries are an option, as always. Directions to them are pretty easy to get on googlemaps and I find the roads are pretty clearly marked - there are loads of signs pointing that direction. The public buses are pretty easy too. You may have to make a few connections though. I did last time I was in Vancouver. If you want to drive there you can leave your car at the terminal. It's just a big parking lot - they do charge though. Or, if you want, you can drive on the ferry. I think there are greyhound or something that go across as well, but I've never personally used them. The ferry is about a 30 minute drive from downtown victoria. You're on the Pat-Bay highway. Keep driving. It's a long way into town, but eventually you'll hit MacKenzie avenue - after about 20 minutes I'd guess. Travel across to the Trans Canada highway. From there it's straight downtown. There are buses you can catch from the ferry terminal to downtown Victoria. Or, alternatively, you can fly. There are both float planes that arrive directly into the harbour. Or there are flights that leave from Vancouver that go into Victoria international.

yes well I found I didn't need moisturizer in Florida either...I'm in Victoria now and I use moisturizer through the winter months. It can be wet to damp to mild here most times .Humid, yes but not HOT. Summers , esp last summer, are really getting drier with the changes in climate now .Definitely need UV protection here now! It's not such a big worry here as compared to Winnipeg for needing moisturizer. Bring an umbrella though ..a sturdy one. u will need that here for sure.We dress in layers here when we go out.have a great time here.

The Humidity is greater than Winnipeg but less than Florida. If you need to buy Moisturizer, buy some at Crabtree and Evelyn in Victoria.
Be sure to eat at the Blue Crab.

I live in Victoria and I have to use facial moisturizer. But I just got back from a trip to the Prairies and my skin was much drier when I was there. Hope this helps
