It's a tough situation but if I were the girl and you asked so close to Valentines I would question if you were asking just for the sake of having someone on Valentines. However, I know some girls that think going on a date on Valentines is bad luck. But, I would go with asking on Valentines, cheesy as it is.

well this sweet thing a friend of mine did that liked me at the time... he wrote me a card with a poem of his.. sayin g at the end "would you be my valentine".. a week before valentine's and i guess he knew his friends were going to invite me again before valentines so there was this bonfire.. that day he asked me before valenties like a week ... "wo what is your answer?" and i said "sure!".. and he smiled..!! a yr after we ve been going out for a yr!!!now and i luv him to death!

yes there is no problem with that. u can even ask them just acouple of days b4... but u hav to realise she may already hav plans with sum other guy... good luck!

if you ask her casusally, yes.
ask if she has any plans for Valentines Day and if not, say you don't either and hey let's go to dinner so we're both not alone on VD
