Do i have to put something on the outside of it, or just my return address and the address of the tax place +postage? I read somewhere that you should get a sticker that had your last name and some code on it. I need info on both Federal and MI state. Thanks.

if you get a tax form and booklet of instructions on the mail, it is best to use the sticker that shows your name and address that comes with your packet.

the optical readers at irs will be able to process your return a bit quicker (maybe a day or two) than if you don't.

but handwriting the addresses is fine, too.

kudos to you for filing so early!

have a nice day.

If you did not receive your specific tax form in the mail and you are working from a workbook without your stickers, follow the instructions as to where to send it. If not too late, call the IRS and ask for one to be sent to you with sticker.

Address and return address are fine. Some states give you a preprinted adhesive label to use on their returns. No biggee if you don't use it though.
