I am not trying to start a debate, so please be kind with your answers. I am a Christian and am thoroughly convinced that God created EVERYTHING...including myself. However,...I can't help but be curious. For those who don't believe in God, believe in another god / gods, or whatever...where do you believe that we came from? And what do you believe happens when you die? Please be specific, but curteous.

They believe in the creation of life through Spontaneous Generation. Why I have no idea, other it is the only thing they can think of as an explanation. Since every attempt to test the theory has failed miserably, and there is no scientific evidence to back it. To them it is better to believe something happened that science shows can't have happened, than to believe in a God, or higher power.

I believe science has explained a lot. I think there was some sort of creator or energy that existed before space. But I don't know because I wasn't there. I mean philosophically this could be an illusion so shouldn't what matters be developing ourselves, since we can at least be sure we are alive and possible becoming better people? Whatever our illusions may be?

the Celtic creation myths are not so much different from the Christian creation myths.

i believe that the gods made us. i believe that your god made your people in the middle east.

and that my gods made my people in europe and Ireland.

and that all of the other gods made all of the other peoples of their respective lands.

as for what happens when we die, I believe that you will go to heaven to be with your god, and that i will continue my soul's journey that may or may not lead to my gods. it may take a few more lifetimes for me to finish my mortal work. that is knowlege that i do not have access to at this time. and it can change depending on my Karma.

To believe in God is to truly believe in yourself. The reason we believe in God is because we want to make sure that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, so we create sort of an insurance plan thats based on hope which gives us a sense of comfort. Now is the insurance real? Thats for you to find out :-)

It doesn't really make a difference. Life is short so live what you have so that when it comes to and end you can say "Damn! What a ride!" instead of wasting it on superstitions.
