well, it depends on wether you want to save the bookcase. if you dont, then use a large hammer(2 pound mallet?) and smash it to pieces. then use a bear claw(kind of like a small crow bar) to clean up the remainder. if you want to save the case, try using a hammer and a flat bar(kind of like a small, flat, crow bar) and slowly seperate it from the wall.

Use a pry bar and work slow.....you should be able to get a good section pulled off from the wall and then just gently tug until it comes off. Sort of like you would peal up a corner of a sticker and then work your way across. You may loose the back of your bookcase though or at very least it might get some damage.
