I think Michael will succeed in life. With him staying with his grandfather is an act of kindness, that's if he is helping his grandfather around the house. Michael probably doesn't care if he doesn't have those material things. As long as he has the only family, which is his grandfather. He is actually being smart, by not going out and getting a girlfriend or getting her pregnant, losing his viginity or even having a car payment, when all he cares for is his grandfather.
Michael probably is not ready for those things yet. He doesn't want to rush things. But he should get a job though to help his grandfather around the house. It is his choice to do what he wants. Plus, how do you know he is not planning for his future?
If Michael needs help financially, he would ask his brother Danny. But, is Danny kind enough to help his brother, or does Danny really care for his brother, or is he too greedy?
You see, Michael isn't stupid, he is just being wise....probably doesn't want to make the same mistake some people do. So, is Danny really happy?
If that's the case with putting the blame on the parents, Michael doesn't have to be like them, he can make the right choices for himself and he still can succeed even though if he's in his 30s or 40s. Anyone can succeed at any age, it is all up to them if they are willing to put the past behind and move forward to success.
The thing is, Danny can be successful in other things, but he had a girlfriend, does he have the same girl? Ten years later, he has a girlfriend, is it the same girl? If it is, he has not married her yet, that is not being successful.

i've been thinking about this and how it kinda does apply to life. but i also know most things happen for a reason.
so danny, is rich and lives the materialistic life right? but what hopes and dreams does he have? he's got everything he could possibly want, in a way i feel sorry for HIM, he has nothing to aspire to, no reason to 'save up', nothing to look forward to, personally that to me is a fruitless life, cause if there is something he wants he can just buy it, which is kind of a boring way to live life.
michael on the other hand, he's probably a boy with a big heart and glowing soul. to give up his freedom to live his life, so he can look after his sick grandfather, is the grandest gesture/sacrifice a person can make. besides for all you know his grandfather may leave him quite a bit of money to inherit when he passes away? and although his life is not ideal, he may in fact be the lucky one, he has experienced things in life that danny may never, and when michael finally does earn his first dollar i think he will truely value his money and enjoy it. also, he will definately be able to treasure all the good things that will come his way, way more than danny ever will. besides a big heart like his is the mopst attractive asset to a girl.
things came too easy for danny and he never really got the chance to experience what life offers (good AND bad).
i guess what you gotta ask yourself is "what do i want? to be wealthy and have an very easy life? or to experience what life REALLY is about?"
something to think about.

How do we know Michael's parent left him? Could Michael have come to live with his grandfather for reasons other then his parents havig left him .?
Just because Danny has a car, which may be to exspensive for him to pay for, a girl friend, that may not like him that much or even want to keep dating him or a lot of money, which he pay be using to pay off a lot of bills he has.
How is it a good thing that Danny at age 12 has lost his viriginity.? Also at age 12 that phone probably belongs to his parents.

It is not fair, and it is probably Michaels Parents fault. But, do you want to spend your life bitter and wining, or do you want to stand on your own two feet and show them that you didn't need them at all? You are lucky you had somewhere to go. Go out and get the life you want, what is stopping you? Look for a job, learn how to save, buy a car, get a girlfriend, buy a house. Is there any reason why you can't? Good luck.

If after 10yrs Danny was in a critical situation(lost he's money, job, or parents with no inheritance) he will not survive, because he always had protection.
but give Micheal wealth (the art of managing money, a house,&get a gf) after he has suffered as he as-he wil become a better man.
& Micheal could still have that chance.-&he will succeed in that life better than Danny in the end

How do you know that Danny is feeling lucky? Often people who have everything are the biggest whiners.
And how do you know that Michael is not leading a happy, fulfilled life, despite the fact that he does not have many material possessions? Maybe his grand-parents have raised him with love and devotion, making him a more balanced person than his unreliable parents ever could have.

It may be the parents fault, but now Michaels job to get everything in life on his own instead of brooding. That would be a true and strong man.If you get everything on a silver plate, how do you prove your worth?Cummon on, Michael, live life to the fullest and show everyone that whatever you have achieved you did with your own will power, and not inherit from anyone.

Michael may not be lucky now but who's to say that his life won't change later on? when it's his time he might surprise them all. Beside he might live longer which in turn will make him the ultimate winner.

That's a bunch of bull.
the
My father came from a poor part of Philly and didn't really have his either of his parents around while growing up. Yet my dad is now is in the upper class financially.
People make their lives they way they want it to be. They have no one to blame but themselves.
