If you put someone in a very bright room and if you wake up that person everytime she tries to fall asleep, what would happen to her? I know that she would die, but how and in how many days?

Sleep deprivation is a common component in most torture situations.

Some of the results consistently interrupted sleep can be irritability, blurred vision, slurred speech, headache, poor memory, general confusion, hallucinations, fainting, nausea, clinical depression, poor skin tone, weight gain, increased blood pressure, aching muscles, decreased mental activity, inability to concentrate, weakened immune system, slower reaction time, yawning, dizziness, hypertension/hyperactivity and a need for naps.

Lack of sleep can effect the immune system which can result in cancers, colds, diabetes. Road rage is often partly attributed to lack of sleep as are a frighteningly high percentage of auto accidents.

Every individual is different. Different people need different amounts of sleep. It really is difficult to give you times for things to start happening or to result in death. That sort of thing is the responsibility of a highly skilled torturer…. Or a sleep specialist.

That is a very crazy question to ask. Might I suggest if you are serious about finding an answer, leave your lights on in your room and have someone wake up up every hour until you are satisfied that you have found your answer. This way you will get your answer first hand!

Persistent lack of sleep (whether in a bright room or otherwise as I know many people who can only sleep in bright light) will cause tiredness, lack of concentration, fatigue, depression, loss of appetite, nervous breakdown, (and in a case of 'her' irregular periods). In some extreme cases a comma was also reported. This method of 'bright light' and waking the person up whenever they try to sleep is a method of torture used against prisoners in the Third World countries. It is serious.

I think it takes about ten days of absolutely no sleep before someone dies, but the world record is eleven days (the record holder fell asleep after eleven days, that is, he didn't actually die)
