Let’s say you have a friend who is an adult who is disabled—on disability checks and he had a girlfriend who is also an adult but is independent and works. He wants to marry his girlfriend but has to talk to her dad first. Will there be conflicts since he doesn’t work? What should he do?

Those of you who are not disabled ought to shut up and learn about disabled people. When a person is disabled, they are unable to work, however, it is important to see what they can and cannot do. Of course the severity of the disability and the prognosis is very important. How would you feel if that the profession you had done your whole life was such now with your disability that you could no longer do it?

The discrimination of disabled people is criminal. The conflict with the father is not because his daughter's boyfriend doesn't work, it is because he is disabled.

Being disabled myself, I advocate for them.

Having some sort of disability does not mean lay down and play dead, get out there and live life to the fullest and that means allowing yourself to be happy.

Sure being on a pension wont make you rich but you can look after yourself so whats the big deal? its up to the girlfriend and what she wants out of life. Good luck to your friend who ever he marries

Some do not mind those on disability. It truly depends on disability. If you have "invisible" disability/disease, chances are that daddy will not like you nor want his daughter to have anything to do with you. If your disability is MS or visible disease or injury, he should greet you with open arms. That is my finding anyway. My diseases/injuries/disabilities are invisible and not too many people except me because they think that I am too lazy to work. If they only knew the truth about the disabled. Most of us would love to be working. It is humiliating to draw disability.
