that always mix together let's see... : Chocolate and milk, cream and cheese
that cant be mix together : water and oil

Flour & water,not much you can do with flour alone,you need to mix in water for a dough or batter.Try mixing salt & pepper ,each ingredient keeps its individaul character,if mixed in water the salt will dissolve but not the pepper.

Caster sugar and butter. You need both these ingredients when you're required to "cream" them.
Water and oil never mix well together.
