There are plenty of things people can do to reduce tension. One has to first identify what activity or situation is generating tension and then take remidial measures most suitable and practicable.Following are some of the things which will help 1]be optimistic 2]maintain self respect 3] try to have un distured sleep 4]try to see light movies with lot of humor and jokes 4]meditation or yoga 5]visit place of worship regularly 6]modify the food habits to make it light on your stomach with lot of fluids and at the same time nutritive 7]maintain reading habits if that helps 8]indulge in some light exercises or game for half hour daily 9]go for specialist massages once in a way when you feel tense 10]Make a habit of enjoying an outing at some beautiful place periodically 11]enjoy sex 12]hear to some good music 13]try to live in the present instead of worrying about the future or past 14]have the company of good friends or social interaction.

If you can, try to stop doing/being around whatever is causing the tension/stress. If not, like a job, or whatever, take walks (30 min. per day), swimming, dancing (even in your own home). Doing physical activity does truly help reduce the tension and stress. Try to eat as healthy (without going overboard) as you can each day, and drink at least 8-8 oz. glasses of water per day to keep your body hydrated, and energized. Yes, energized. If you are dehydrated, even a little, it can/does effect your energy level for getting your work done. Also, for something else, do you like to write? Have you tried journaling? That is another way to help too. Take care.

It's not easy to do while you're at work or school, but when you have some time, here are a couple of things:

Take a walk. This is something most people can do for free just by going outside. Look around you and focus on the things you see. It will help distract you from whatever is bothering you, and the exercise is good for you too.

Sit down or lie down, close your eyes and just breathe. Focus your attention on keeping a nice steady flow of air going in and out of your lungs. A lot of authorities say to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, but I don't know how important that really is.

Relax on the Internet by going to Yahoo Answers. Smoke a cigarette, Sex, get a Pet, read a book, Get someone to give you a massage or get one of those contraptions. I like The Foot Massage Bath. Start a Hobby. Yoga. Walking. Meditation. More Sleep, if you work alot. Talk to a shrink... although the amount he/she will charge you for the visit will cause stress and tension.

first of all person should try to know the reason/cause of this tension/stress.if possible remove the cause e.g. if its due to sum person clarify things with him/her.if reason is beyond your control.....stop thinking about the matter ,its not easy but neither impossible (I had tried myself)....its said "if you think its a problem if you don't its not" try to keep your brain busy in some constructive /important/pleasing activity.play with kids/spend time in some blind school or orphnage/gerietric rehabilitation center anywhere you like.this gives peace of mind.
take healthy diet, don't compromise on food it will not let you fight mental or physical stress.
prctise yoga atleast 1/2 an hr daily.
give time to yourself and your dearones.
take a break from routine lifestyl go some spa /resort/take massage/aromatherapy whatever appeals good to ownself.
don't worry what people will say?you have take care of yourself if you don't nobody will.
spend 15 mins for yourself doing nothing just memorize any of good occasion of your life when you hav felt on the top of the world or you were happy.think about that step by step just as if you are living that moment again.
try this for now.
don't go for smoking/drinks or drugs.they will spoil the condition.
pineaple juice is quite nourishing and activating try it.
if no remedy any how ,consult doc

Find the source(s) of the tension and stress and either find a way to deal with them in a more constructive and less physically/emotionally demanding way, find a way to defuse it (meditation, relaxation tecniques, exersise, and yes, sex), or find the source(s) and eliminate it/them!! Sorry, had to add a little humor in there, which by the way, is another excellent stress/tension reducer, lots and lots of humor...it works for me!
Laugh a lot, love alot, live alot. If that dont work, drink alot. Sorry, more humor, I am on a roll!
Good luck!

As far as i know, yoga and meditation is the best cure for all kinds of stress related problems. Bcoz in yoga u need to fix ur mind on the part where u r working. So ur mind gets diverted, as well as relaxes along with ur body.
If ur body is free from stress ur mind will also recover from tension and stress , easily through meditation.
