all supermarket shampoos have a lot of alcohol and other things in them that dry them out. Use one with a mositurizer. Also, use conditioner. That will also help your hair to be soft. Make sure you rinse it all the way out, otherwise it will look greasy and feel grungy.

If you can, try to find a beauty supply in town. Look in the sale bin or the little travel sizes for good shampoos and conditioners in little sizes that cost very little. Then you can try them out, or just wash you hair a few times with some good shampoo.

aussie moist shampoo is great, but if your looking for softer hair maybe you can try using just a little conditioner on the ends of your hair (avoid using it on your roots because it can make your hair look greasy) you can try the aussie moist conditioner too or i also like suave kids go go grap conditioner(i kno its for kids but it makes hair so soft!) or suave professionals bio basics, they all work great, hope this helps!

oh yea and if you dont want to buy aussie moist shampoo and you dont want to use conditioner, try using suave kids 2 in 1 shampoo berry smoothers or something it works great at softening! and you dont have to condition afterwards because its a 2 in 1 formula.

Garnier Fructis has several formulas you can try.
You can switch off if you need to here & there so if it gets a little too dry you can have the other formula on hand.
At Walgreens you can get Paves Shine Enhancing formula which really works well and is low on detergent, so it's not harsh at all.

Pantene is pretty good, and because boys don't usually use much, it shouldn't be too expensive. But definitely make sure you use a conditioner too!
