I'm a Christian and I grew up listening to Prince. I like him because he's cute and he also plays good music. Unfortunately, he has a reputation... Is it wrong to be a Prince fan and still be Christian as well.

I know this is annoying to ask while other are having a debate, but I want to know how you guys feel about Prince. Do you think God gave him the talent to sign and play as well as he can.

I'm not going to tell you what type of music you should listen too. I personally am careful of the lyrics, the beat and the way the musician presents themselves. That tells me if their music is worth my time or not.
I'm especially careful of the more popular songs because 8 times out of 10 the song's about sex, having a load of money, or other unsavory things.
♥♫♪♥ Just do some research ahead of time then enjoy! ♥♫♪♥
{By the way, I too grew up listening to Prince. He's changed quite a bit and I ♥ his new CD!!!}

Unfortunately, like you I grew up listening to Prince and singing his songs. But when you tether your imaginations to worldly people and their influences. What will eventually happen is you will open up a door in your life for demons to enter into your life. Demons will use worldly people and influences to build strongholds into your life. The scripture clearly says that if you are a friend of the world than you are an enemy of God. I would always let Prince songs play in my mind. Then one day the Lord showed me in a dream this music by Prince playing. But He was showing it to me to let me know I let a worldly influence into my life. I know it sounds good, but it will be a hinderance later down the road.

I guess you are not yet aware of the fact that Prince has become a Christian himself and has totally changed his lifestyle. He is a wonderful man with a good heart and you can be happy to have known him once upon a time, all the while being happier to know that he will probably be someone you will meet in God's Kingdom.

You can like any kind of music you like and have a whole set of christian beliefs and yes you are a christian. You can't imagine that you and Prince are going to hook up next week and run away together, that is absolutely unreal, so yes I think it is safe to say we all have dreams and like music and musicians and when we are young have beautiful dreams and ideals but they are harmless and won't send us to hell.
