That depends, if you shoot, you will rot in jail. If you back away, you get a medal. Explain the definition of "WIN". When they come over the border with arms, you shoot them and leave them on a post for the buzzards as a warning to those who come in armed and dangerous. If we don't have the manpower or armanent to make it happen, we can't condemn Pakistan too much, can we? Yes, I think any military person could take on a border guard because the border guards, unlike the military, are obviously not expected to confront or fight anyone. Unless they just got out of the military service themselves, which is where a lot of our new patrol officers will be coming from, and a battle hardened veteran is worth 20 green recruits.

This is not a question that a "High Ranked Army Officer" would ever ask.
Otherwise, he will lose the confrontation to any police officer, who will not carry out his duty down to fighting.
Otherwise, both are NOT "specialists" or "professionals" and should be fired the sooner the better.
True professionals and specialists will take care of their possible disputes beforehand and have all necessary documents and coordination for professional communication.
Only pure losers make foes out of their friends in arms.

Your military man, probably home on leave, is not going to be armed. The officer will have his own hand to hand combat skills PLUS a baton, pepper spray, taser, and a handgun. I think the edge goes to the cop.
Keep in mind that the average soldier's hand to hand combat training is less than what the average cop gets in his academy. Even the special ops guys don't really get that much. One Green Beret guy once told me that if you are down to fighting with your hands, you are in deep do-do. Those guys get a lot of training in weapons, explosives, and stealth work. They do not train to be Bruce Lee.

Why?... i am not sure why you are asking this question but it sounds to me as though you are sanctioning violence against military personnel at the border... are you?

They both would, as they'd be working together towards the same goal... why on earth would they be fighting each other?
