i want to know if this is possible or not? answer me quickely as possible.

I have IBM Tinkcentre P-4 2.93 GHZ
256 MB Ram 80 GB harddisk SATA ,which i had bought in october, 2005 , i had tried installing windows xp severla times but i can't boot up ffrom the cd, evrytime i got an error message that , error no 1962, there were no operating system found. so my question is how to setup bios or cmos to boot up from the external dvd writer which is plugged in the usb card of my PC?

Yes. So long as the device is a bootable option in your BIOS.

Surely. If u have bootable Win CD there is not hassle at all. Just run the CD and follow the instructions. Depending what OS u have now, it will ask whether u want to upgrade, repair or make new installation- if u already have other Win installed and u chose new installation it will make it as SECOND OS (u will have option to boot any one of them at the beginning). If u dont want to have 2 OS then either u upgrade the existing one (if its older version) or repair it. Other way is to format HD, but make sure u have required driver for your external HD so that it runs after u format your internal HDD (then l have to partition your HD)
If u have a Win dump which is not bootable then make sure u have other bootable CD or FD, even of other OS (u can make it from existing OS) and required driver for extrnl HDD. Then if it doesnt start setup from autorun or setup.exe go to I386 and type winnt.exe - the setup will start.

Yes its possible just go to setup and select boot in the boot option select first boot as usb drive it will definitely i have installed the system like this only

Not a problem. Just place the CD in DVD writer and connect it with pc. YOu can install XP.
