Most scientists don't recommend it at all.
When water is frozen in plastic, tiny plastic particles adhere to the the watermolecules. When defrosted, some of this plastic might mix with the drinking water. Even if you don't freeze them, these bottles sometimes contain a plastic that seeps into to water even at room temperature. This has been linked to chromosome damage and hormone disruption.
Even plastic water bottles sold at the sport store can be harmful.

I wouldn't think so. Just as long as you sanitize the bottles first. As a kid we was so cheap to go buy ice. So my mom would freeze water in the bottles and then take a hammer and crush the ice to use in our coolers or for ice for our drinks. I'm still alive and kicking. Its a great idea!

No Tom it isn't harmful to reuse plastic bottles as long as they are clean. It is a very thrifty way to save money too. Go for it !!!!!!

I don't think so. Because for one recycle pet bottles. I used to fill them with water then freeze them.

yeah, there is no harm in that... it might not taste as good though, unless you clean out the bottle good enough so that you have no more flavour of cola in there

I use them all the time ,after you freeze them they help keep food in your cooler cold, and when they thaw you still have a cold drink
