I think he was talking about the fact that we could learn by watching Rent, a movie with characters battling AIDS and who i guess 'stare death squarely in the face everyday'. Also, talking about this and making a movie/play as he did would stop us from hiding from the terrors, and facing the problems. Hope this made sense! I love Rent!! :D
