When it is humid there is more water in the air. The water disrupts the hydrogen bonds of the helix in the hair and when the hair dries it will take the shape of it's natural wave or curl. New covalent bonds have been made. When your hair gets curlier it is reacting to the extra moisture in the air by taking in the extra moisture and curling, if you have curly or wavy hair. I have naturally curly hair that I straighten, and I have noticed that humidity does this to my hair. When there is very little humidity the air lacks moisture and your hair will stay straight.

Dry hair gets curlier and frizzy when it is humid because the moisture in the air tries to get in your hair.
