Our dog had the same thing. It sounds like a fatty tumor. You'll want to get it checked out by your vet. If may be nothing serious you'll just want to keep an eye on it.

most vets have an answering service and a vet in your town (may not be the one you use) WILL be on call for emergencies!
you will have to pay an emergency fee, but there is no excuse why you can't get your dog seen.
if this was your child would you hesitate? animals can suffer just like we do. do for you pet, what you would want someone to do for you!

call around!

Did he or she eat something, maybe one of their toys?

Depending on the age and breed of your dog it could be a fatty tumor (my 7 year old Golden has one) and harmless. But just to be on the safe side take her/him to the vet tomorrow.

Please take the dog to the vet! It may be a fatty non-serious tumor or it may be a serious tumor.Good luck.
