It's related to the fact that a lot of people get red in the face when they drink. Alcohol dilates the blood vessels, and that causes both the tingling and the red face.

You tend to notice the effect more because the facial area is more sensitive and the effect feels more concentrated. Also, there are a lot of blood vessels that feed the brain, so you get a more intense reaction in the head and face.

Most of the tingling and abnormal sensations when drinking alcohol come from the change in your bodies ability to process sensory information. I'm not sure about the tingling you talk about, but I know my teeth go "numb" when I drink too much, my friend's lose sensation in body parts, all generally due to changes in sensory perception.

Alcohol is a vasodilator. The tingling you feel is the capilleries dilating to allow more blood in.

Im not sure what you are talking about, I never get a tingling sensation when drinking alcohol.

You never said if you had a soda mix in it or not, but if you have pop or soda, it means that you don't have enough booze in your drink to stop the fizz.
