I wanted to find out more about dyslexia and ADD. If someone had it as a child, can it just go away when a person grows up? If not, what type of medication is prescribed and how does ADD an dyslexia affect daily life?

My son was dyslexic and what is now called ADD, I guess ADHD since he was expelled from the 2nd grade for misbehavior. He's an adult now, and has built his own house, retired from military and is a super mechanic. He's the one out of four kids that I have no worries about. Maybe that's a good sign for you. Best Luck!
We didn't have medication for it back then, but if I had it to do over, I'd have him tested for allergy by a doctor who knows about food/chemical allergies, because that can sure mess up your clarity of thought. There's a way to know if it's allergies- Actifed for a child and wait 30 minutes. two for an adult. Clortrimeton should work, too.

Dyslexia does not go away. There are many techniques that one can learn to combat challenges of dyslexia. There is no medication for dyslexia, just knowledge of how to overcome the challenges.
Now ADD has many different responses. There are many med's for this, and you can search a the mental health sites about them. You do not grow out of ADD. You can learn to control your focus to a point.
Since each person react to drugs differently it is hard to say how one will help a person over another. It is all a trial and error.
