Well, there are many piegeons around my house and everyday they come, they sit and enjoy. Now the trouble is I end up cleaning their poo in my balcony. Trust me, they just stick on to the floor and you have to really scrub hard to get it off.
I do not want to hurt them, But please, please let me know if there is a harmless way of discouraging them from entering my balcony.
I do not want to spend money on putting mesh and it does not have aesthetic value. In fact it reduces the light into the living room.
If you know or have any innovative ideas, I would be really thankful.

You don't want to put fox urine on your balcony , I can tell you that .Its expensive stinks a lot and birds don't don't associate smells with predators .You can catch them at night with a flash light if you know where they roost at,easily and move them some where else .But make sure its several miles away or they will be right back . To just try and keep them away .You might try rubber snakes and those little wind mills that spin in the wind made out of plastic about 2 or 3 ft tall on a plastic rod . Or a bb gun if you shoot a few of them they will stay away .Get a bb gun that doesn't have much power so it just stings them. Or you can buy fake hawks or owls to put up .

You can purchase fox urine to spray outside in the areas they frequent. This discourages them and the smell goes away after a while.

Some are scared away by the fake owls that you can buy, others think that it is just another perch.

look for the local falconry group in your state and find out if anybody is flying in your area... the presence of hunting hawks and falcons usually tend to scare them away after a day or two.
