"i know people who are on anti depressants ant they dont act improved. I sometimes wonder if it is all an act to get attention?"
Thank you for asking this. I don't believe that emotions are an "act" what I believe, and since there is no reliable and valid scientific evidence for any of this, is that we all have emotions and in some circumstances and situations they are different sometimes stronger, sometimes lesser. Yet, they are most usually appropriate and not abnormal for what we are going through or have been through during our lives. Sometimes we are allowed to express them and sometimes we are not.
Repressed emotions, and this can be done through this medication, can be as dangerous or more dangerous then any real actual emotion. Because we are not allowed to express our real thoughts, emotions, and needs even in any appropriate way, yet they come out if we want them to or not at times.
They are there because we have a subconscious and no one knows quite sure how that works, but it holds some of our abilities and our memories and how we have processed them and if we have not felt or understood them then they have been repressed. Like a teapot the steam will escape, these medications keep one from feeling, dealing with, or healing any present or previous negative life experiences and emotions that they might have had.
So if we can't discuss our emotions and fully feel them then we can't attempt to understand why they are there or what we should do with them and we may indeed express them in inapropriate ways. Some people do this repression without these medications, because it is a learned behavior pattern out of fear of how they will be treated or what may be done to them for these.
ACT is Assertive Community Treatment where they can come into "your" own home and drug you if they don't see you as being appropriate according to their "perception" any time that they want to, all they really have to do is say that you are dangerous if you are or not as long as you have one of these labels. This is generally actually unconstitutional, done through unconstitutional courts of law, and often based on lies and misperceptions.
These anti-depressants disinhibit and cause irractic behaviors because they can't control a persons actual chemical balance every minute, so there is no certainty as to how they will really work, and these chemicals can't be measured to accurately control what can't be exactly known. They are also addictive and dangerous poisons so why use them. This is why we have illegal street trade and dealing in them, because some people like the way they make them feel.

That's a good question.
It is possible, but, but many symptoms of serious depression, you just can't fake easily. Some people are just naturally not as happy or upbeat as others. Sometimes depression can be temporary, lasting weeks or months, but for the large number of people who suffer from some type of depression most of their lives, it is all too real. Ironically, the last thing many people with depression want is to draw too much attention to themselves.
Depression is a very complicated condition, and it has many faces. Depression is still only partly understood. Antidepressants can help treat depression, but they cannot cure or eliminate it. Not by a long shot. The side effects of most antidepressants I know of are usually serious enough that you would not want to take them unless there was some actual benefit.
It is possible that some other different condition may be misdiagnosed as depression. Depression itself can be a symptom of a larger problem, such as behavioral problems, substance abuse, neurological conditions, sleep problems, excessive stress or some type of traumatic experience. In this case antidepressants may not have any effect, or they simply may not address the bigger problem.

No depression is not an act. It is a serious problem that can last for a short period of time or last forever. This can be very mild and people not really understand that they are depressed or very severe and very scary.
You aren't complete off the mark though, I do know people who have taken depression and used it as an excuse, and that is very sad. This is serious and should be taken serious.
Thank you for asking something that has set back on many peoples minds but didn't want to say anything.

an ACT? no, Its not an act. I believe its a personality trait. Just like the person who has to be the center of attention or the person who is overly bubbly about everything. The anti depressants have never been proven to help with anything and there are studies that the FDA ignores that show that anti depressants often lead people into further depression and suicide.

Depression is tricky. There is no magic medicine for it. It is something that should be treated like any other illness or disease.
Sometimes you need to do more than take meds to overcome an illness. The motives of others really cant be known all the time. Depression can sometimes be a side effect of a lot of other issues...and some people cant face the reality of their pain.
Work on yourself. Take care of yourself. Be compassionate. But also keep yourself healthy.

If the anti-depressant doesn't work for someone it just means they are not on the right medicine. You have obviously never had nor been close to someone with depression. It is not a fun thing to go through. There is no acting in depression. It is real and it is not fun.

If this guy or woman has bipolar one or 2, they may be the final actor interior the worldwide. having the ability to act satisfied is a skill that throughout the time of basic terms gets extra sensible by the years. social gathering Duke, a super actress in her time, did not seek for help till she grew to become into 30(ish), while she grew to become into finally prescribed lithium. Ted Turner (of Turner broadcasting), remains specially remote from the well-known public eye simply by comparable concern, yet to verify them you're able to in no way be attentive to they suffered from extreme melancholy, or grew to become into conserving pills interior the form they had to end all of it. human beings think of that in case you have billions of greenbacks, there is not any reason to be depressed, yet with a chemical imbalance, it would desire to definitely make it worse, and consequently an outstanding sort of bipolar victims artwork non end and don't sleep. Some people may, but depression is real.
Even on anti depressants, you will still have bad days, you can still feel like crap sometimes. It's not a magic pill, where you are 100% happy when you take them.
