I wonder does this mean someone else has access to his IM. If he's been feeling "down" & you want to be reinforcing, there are many ways to express this without the WORDS "I love you" if you think that might embarrass him. If his IM is available, so would his email. Honestly, even if the phone is in the middle of his house, unless someone picks up on another extension, I can't see how your thoughtfulness could embarrass him. You sound like a caring person, & all I can say is--go for it. What's the worst that can happen? Communicate! But please ask yourself this one simple question--have you any reservations about letting him know your feelings? If not, the rest is irrelevant.

Perhaps it would be best to mention over IM that you have something important that you would like to talk about the next time you see him in person. Ask him if there might be a good time that you two would have a few moments alone and go from there. Remember that as my good friend Shakespeare once said, "the course of love never did run smooth!" Never stop laughing, loving, or enjoying the world around you.

why would it embarass him over the phone, maybe you're just thinking that you'll be embarrassed! Grow up and tell him how you feel, do not worry about the consequences...if it's really love in your heart and you say it out of genuine sincerity, then nothing else matters, even if he shoots you down...at least you're a big enough human to admit to your true emotions....
And how the hell would his parents overhear? You mean he may not say it in return if they're in the room......???!!!

I agree with the first girl. Do it with a letter. I mean in person would be nice, but you say you cant. So do it with a letter. Or email. This will give him time to digest it. He wont say anything back to you out of nervousness if he has time to think about it. He will always have the letter to look back over too.

Cheer him up. Saying i love u isn't a phrase or words. Its a feeling u feel inside. Chances are if u love him he loves u back and u are both afraid to say it. don't think about it and the time will come when u know its the right time. Trust me he is going to be happy to hear it. Just remember it is not just saying it. It is showing and feeling it.

If you really love him and you haven't told him yet I would go ahead and tell him whether his parents can hear or not. If you just want to make him feel better and your not sure about your feelings you shouldn't tell him you love him just because you can't think of a better way to cheer him up.

dont IM him because it may not be him there or he could blackmail you with it. and same with writing him a letter. he could show his friends if he dont like you and you will be laughed at for life. even though I know its the hardest thing to do its best to tell him in person. get to a quiet spot where its just you and him and let him know what you think. i hope yall work out :) good luck!

I don't think you should tell him you love him over IM. You should probably kiss him first, then let him know. So your best bet is to just act really interested online, in otherwords tell him you love him without saying "i love you".

It sounds like you are young, which means you don't really loe him. But you may find it cute to tell him anyways. I would just wait and tell him in person if you really want to tell him.
