I have been reading about things in the Bird World and discovered there is a bad element out there called a "SCAMMER". I found an ad in the Los Angeles Classified : FREE FOR ADOPTION...DNA TESTED BABY AFRICAN GREYS . THEY COME WITH CAGES, HEALTH GUARANTEE CERTIFICATE, TOYS AND ALL SHOTS. Well of course I jumped right at that and told them I had wanted a Grey all my life but being on a SSD check, just simply could never find the money for one of these wonderful birds. I told them about how my birds are my friends and i was sure one of his birds would find a good life with me
Bobby and Sunny they replied back they have
1 male /2 females .which one did I want and when did I want it???? Then they left me hanging for 3 days. today I get the deal. I only have to pay $490.00 for a pair of Blue Hyincyths (?) to be delivered in my area and my bird would come special delivery to my door. They wanted the money and then they would ship. WHY do I have to pay $490.00 for somebody elses birds ?

It sounds like a scam. I urge you not to send the money.

It's the old if it sounds to good to be true. . . .That's the problem with buying with places you can't check. Do call or preferable write or email the magazine and tell them about your experience. This can happen anywhere. I had it happen to me on ebay. There was no way I should have been able to buy that camera for anywhere near the price I won it at. I normally pay very fast but this was "too good to be true". Ebay finally caught up to them and sent me a email. If I had paid it would have been bye-bye money. If you didn't buy anything, I don't know if you can report them to anyone because they tried but didn't succeed in scamming you. Whenever you get wise to anyone like those two, it is your responsibility to make their lives h*ll if possible. Only way to get rid of them. Also be careful of buying stolen birds and birds smuggled in this country for low prices. The smuggled birds often carry some pretty horrendous diseases that you wouldn't want to expose your birds to. Plus it's illegal.

No way!!! All the warning signs are there!! Red flags everywhere. If you couldn't afford the African grey then I really wouldn't try and budget for "someone else's" birds. Chances are there is no "other birds". Save the money that you would on shipping someone elses birds and continue to save up for YOUR bird!!!

This is a classic scam. Why would they give away a bird that sells for $900.00 +?? Especially since there is a HUGE market in the LA area for these birds.

13 & 19 are my favourites but they are all good ! I'll never forget my brother saying to my sister "Quick grab my balls they're about to drop !" (He was getting the deccys out of the loft & the box containing the baubles he had made the year before was slipping out of his hand - honest we're not that sort of family !) I was the youngest & I was the only one who laughed. They all just looked at me like I was mental - they are that sort of family, ie no sense of humour ! Have a Merry Christmas xx

This is a scam and I would say that you could probably pay much less at a regular pet store. There is always strings attached to things like this. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is too good to be true.
