Something that takes good outdoor and indoor photos. Will be used for taking pics of family and friends. I want to be able to zoom in on the person, and take good action shots without being blurry. 4x6 photos are all it needs to be able to take. I want optical zoom not digital, and automatic focus. Thanks for your answers!

Try a Canon PowerShot A530, it costs around $200. It's a 5 megapixel camera, with auto focus. It says there is a 4X digital zoom, but I'm sure it has optical zoom as well. My Canon has optical zoom, and the specs said nothing about it. Canon cameras have good focus and sharpness, not grainy or anything. This camera will be good for the photos you want to take.

I will recommend Canon A530. It will be best pick as per your requirement. It has 4x optical zoom, 5 mega-pixel , good shooting modes. But I'll recommend canon A540 (I have one) even though it will cost you little more than 150. It has few advantages over A530 like big screen and 6 mega-pixel, and good video shooting modes. I did lot research before thanksgiving and bought few cameras for friends and believe me they all are happy. Look for few good deals and ..wait for some time if you can and you may get canon A530 at $125-$135. I Will strongly recommend to stay with Canon or Sony..with others you may take chance if you want. Make sure that you do not buy it from some unknown website. I'll recommend Buy.com or Circuit city.

I doubt you're going to find that for under $150.

Slower shutter speeds and weaker, grainer photos because of low lighting are typical of cheaper digital cameras, if you want faster shutter speeds and better indoor/darker photo quality, expect to spend at least another hundred.

But I've always heard that the Fuji Finepix cameras are great for most consumers. It's not a prosumer product with astonishing quality, but it's affordable, easy to use, and quality is acceptable for the home user.

But I'd reccomend you do some research online, and at places like C|Net's reviews for cameras. Don't buy from retailers on eBay, there's been a nasty trend lately of people being harassed and ripped off by them.
