I am using either TurboTax or Taxcut and dont know how to take care of this. The other question is about my 1099-G(Statement of Tax Overpayment). How do I file this?

If you itemized deductions last year you'll need to claim that tax refund as income. If you dindn't itemize last year, you can just toss it.

If you live in one state and work in the other, you'll have to file state returns in both states. Get your Federal return out of the way first. Then file a non-resident return in NY next, listing only the NY income. Then file a NJ resident return listing all income, just as on your Federal return. You'll get a credit in NJ for the taxes paid to NY.
