Yes, it's true, believe me, I have read so much about them because a couple of weeks ago, I was sneezing a lot, but didn't have a cold, and has just done some major cleaning in my room, and found LOTS of dust around, and inside my baseboards.
THEN, after a few days, I kept breaking out: my arms, my sides, some on my stomach and legs, and I was soooo freaked out!
I bought an allergy pillow case, with a zipper, and did the same for my mattress, bought a new sheet set, and a blanket, and wowwwwwwwwwwww, I stopped breaking out and within days, I was still okay.
Dust mites are everywhere, they are even on the human body, and it is natural, it is just that some of us get allergic.
Either get a new matress and pillow, or cover the stuff u have, and I would bet you will feel better about dust mites, and might even feel better overall, because u r not breathing in those mites anymore!

I have never heard such a thing, but the problem is, with mattress that old, it will be unbalanced and non-supportive. It will have a preset deformation resembling your average-normal sleeping pattern and thus will be uncomfortable. Sprung (spring) mattresses tend to go bad once the springs get old and deform due to the applied load over the course of the years.
as far as the dust Mites (you did say dust mute in your question) they only have a life span of 20 to 30 days. On average, a person sheds about 1.5 grams of skin cells and flakes every day (approximately 0.3-0.45 kg per year), which is enough to feed roughly a million dust mites under ideal conditions. So which one weigh what, is a question to be answered.

Hi. I have never weighed one before so I can not say for sure, but dust mites are just about everywhere. They live on very tiny amounts of food such as your skin cells. I'd rather think my bed was full of mites, personally.

I don't know about dust Mutes but dust Mites can cause allergies.
Or do you mean bed bugs, which can also cause an alergic reaction if bitten by them.

My house was just filled with drywall dust the other day!!! Just wipe off your plants and spray them down, they'll get a drink while you're cleaning them.

They can give you allergies. Other then that, they just eat your dead skin.
