meet at a restaurant on a Sat. night. But that morning he called to say the cable guy was coming to his new house between 12pm and 5pm, and he'd call me to let me know when he came. He did that. No big deal, I thought, he'll still have time to meet me after 5 pm. At 7pm (!), he called to say the cable guy finally arrived. He'd gotten lost. But by now my date had a headache, was frustrated and wanted to cancel! LOTS of ppl have been frustrated by the cable guy. So I understand that. When he called a couple days later to reschedule, I said No. I figured if he really wanted to go out with me, he would've rescheduled with the cable company! I felt foolish for hanging around all day until 7pm, just to have him day he's too tired to go out now. What would you have done?

It sounds like the guy made a genuine effort to re-schedule with you and you shot him down.

He had, it seems, a legitimatly horrible day and his plans were ruined. He might have felt embarassed to have to cancel on you He might have wanted to spent a GOOD amount of time with you which he felt he wasn't able to do now that your date had been cut short.

My only question is: Why did he make plans for you on Saturday when he knew the cable company was coming? If he can give you a decent answer there, then just go out with him and let things work themselves out. You're getting rid of someone who could be a good guy over something petty.

I think this goes to show just how high your opinion of yourself really is. You truely believe that a person should have dropped everything to come see you, even though you've never actually met. So what about after you meet? What if things go well with someone in the future, and two months after you get married, he gets stuck at work? "Oh, I'm sorry boss, but I can't be late... yes I realize that means I'm fired, but it's fired or I loose my wife." Seriously! How far do you take this kind of attitude?

First, you have to give up on the idea that you're all that and a bag of chips too. Even if you are, he doesn't know that yet, and he might be even more of all that, a bag of chips, and the dip besides! You're going to judge him based on one bad experience with a cable guy? And you knew what was going on that day!

If it had been me, then as soon as he said, "I'll be waiting for a cable guy..." I'd have said, "OK, let's reschedule, because you never know how long that kind of thing is going to go." Then I'm not sitting around all day and he's let off the hook to try and keep a date.

I think you might have been wrong on that one. You should respect his needs as well, not only demand that yours are met. It's not like he stood you up with some feeble "something came up" kind of crap... he had an appointment and things didn't go as planned. You should have been more understanding. Consider this... how would you feel if this happened? .. you make an appointment to get your hair done, and plan to meet him for lunch. But when you get to the salon, the hairdresser you scheduled with was sick and you had to wait for another to be free. You call your guy and say you'll be a half hour late. One thing after another happens until you leave the salon an hour late... when you call to say you'll meet him now he says "don't bother, you should have gotten your hair done another day! I don't want to go out now!" ??? I mean, things happen. You have to be able to make allowances and change plans. Give the guy a break.

I think you should have given him a second chance. He probably had his cable guy scheduled before he set up a date with you, and he wasn't planning on it being an all day ordeal. However, I also feel he was a wimp to back out of the date just because things didn't go the way he planned. Not a good first impression. Maybe if you tried again, the second impression may be better. If not, then at least you gave it that second chance and you can move on. Good luck!

This guy isnt a psychic along with every other male on the planet so how was he to know the cable guy was gonna be that late? And also he is a guy so tv is pretty important, i think u were a bit harsh in saying no, he obviously does like u seein he made the effort of calling again to arrange another date...

Well that was dumb for him to not tell you in the first place he was going to be expecting a cable guy and to set a date after or something. If he really wanted to meet you he could have even asked if you wanted to come by his place while he was waiting. maybe have dinner there. sounds kinda fishy to me. thats why I like to meet a guy in person. im sure those online match things are good and all but still, that was crappy.

how selfish are you? it was a date...not a wedding...cut the guy a break is he supposed to schedule his life around you...so you dont waste your time? maybe he thought he was wasting his time on you if you said something so stupid.

I would have given him the benefit of the doubt the first time and rescheduled. But if it became a pattern, I would break it off.
