This is a hard question to answer because you've then got to specify what makes a religion a religion. If you mean mainstream religions there are a lot of people who follow one but not as much as in America.
You can't really go by census or whatever because there are always people who put down that they follow a religion when they don't (for a variety of reasons).
Then there's the second part of your question talking about how many of us believe in God - the answer is almost everyone. But that doesn't mean they're religious - it means they believe a God of some form exists.

While many Australians have a religion and a belief in one god or another, they tend not to go on about it. God-botherers are treated with suspicion by most Australians.

you never here our politicians using the god willing, god save us,god help us,thank you god type speeches.
America is probably the biggest christian nation on earth and i don't think we are in the same league

I think most Aussie's have religious beliefs, but they tend to keep it to themselves. Most are not fanatical and privately practice their beliefs.
There is certainly a percentage of non-religious people in Australia also.

faith develop into once a fashion to describe a mysterious international. because the international receives a lot less mysterious and human information will improve, faith turns into extra and extra beside the point. It also has to do with the point and high quality of public education. This on my own could inform you that us of a will wade through could it enable faith to interfere in public coverage.
