My 20 month old has a persistent runny nose , which we thought was a cold but it has lingered, went away for a few days and is now back. She is starting to gag when she eats, presumably because she has post- nasal drip. I have tried humidifiers and vicks vapo rub which alleviates the symptoms only temporarily.
I was considering a trip to the doctor , because the mucus is clear . Her father has sinus problems too , could she have inherited this from him? We have tried just about everything and I do not know what else to do. Thanks for your help.

We gave my son children's vitamins every day---his nose ran non stop from the day we started them until the day we stopped. found out he was allergic to something in them.
you should take him to an allergist and have it checked out.
runny nose is a common side effect to many allergens.

Give your house a good cleaning. It could be dust or mold that your child is allergic to. In fact, that's what it sounds like. My mom (nurse for 20+ years) always said that you should start worrying when the mucus is colored and that clear means that it's allergies. If you’re still having problems with a super clean house, then it’s time to see the doctor. You should also not feed your child honey, yogurt, or soft cheeses until age 5 or 6 when the immune system is fully developed because they contain live bacteria. Especially honey. It has botulism in it (no joke). I doubt that's what the problem is, but I figured while we're on the subject of immunology I should make sure you know that.

Just go to the doc and you wont have to worry what it "might" be.
Ask the doctor everything you mentioned here. Let a professional help you out on this.
