You are certainly not insane, but you are a target for Big Pharma who has introduced such non-diseases as Social Anxiety Disorder the better to sell all the new pills to fix such a disease.... It's called Disease Mongering.
Your "social phobia" may have its roots in a few things: perhaps you are quite shy and lack confidence in social situations, and that may have been exacerbated by unkindness or embarrassment in the past. Now your gut reacts with all kinds of "sick" reactions (anxiety) when you have to repeat social situations. Does this make any sense? You can see where it is NOT really a disease...(a phobia)... but a situation that you can overcome with the right coaching. I suggest you check out e f t and see if this rings true for you. Many people have been helped to overcome very severe anxiety by learning this energy technique. If you just feel uncomfortable, then that is not a phobia. A phobia is a real fear of something. I feel uncomfortable all the time when I'm around people, especially around people who are older than me or those I don't know. The fact is, that is perfectly normal. Not everyone is completely comfortable in a social setting. You can work on that though, by talking to people and making friends. I made a really good friend by just turning to a random person and saying, "I decided to become more random. Hi!"
Try doing some research on social phobias and on some tactics to boost your confidence.
Good luck to you!

You're not alone or crazy. I've suffered for years from social phobia. I'm 26 years old now.. i started getting very nervous when out in public when I was about 18.
It caused me to leave school, quit jobs. It got so bad that for a few years I hardly left my house at all.
Lots of people suffer from the same thing. It can be treated with medication and counselling but I think the best way to get over it is to change the way you think over time. It takes a while but it does get easier.
You'll notice too, as you get older, that it hits more and more people. You'll see the signs of social phobia in many of those around you. The more you have to deal with it in your own life, the better you are able to help others who have trouble with it too. You're not alone.. just know that. :)
Here's a message board where hundreds of people with social anxiety share stories: http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/index.php

i'm so drained. i'm unsure if i can help you with this one kido. all the way down to the brass tax, you're turning out to be a life-length scene on your head of all of the flaws that could bypass incorrect. think of that life-length scene from beginning as much as end. Step into it and watch it lower back. think of how stupid it extremely is. upload some carnival music to the action picture. Make a white-out nob on your head and turn it on. Then play it with the reveal white-out. It would not look all that annoying anymore does it? nicely I could get some sleep... it extremely is just one disassociation technique i've got picked up examining "Get the life you choose" via: Richard Bander. I advise you bypass to barnes and nobles or auntie's e book keep and ordering a replica for $20. Justify on your mum and dad it extremely is going to help you get by college.

It is a very real condition. Seek help from a professional before it becomes more than you can handle and you end up confined to your house. Good luck!

No you are not insane--I have the same thing--it sucks. I have a hard time but just do it. I think mine stemmed from my childhood--I hate calling people answering the phone--just going out out unless i am with someone--not crazy--just fearful of being hurt.
