I agree with Lindsay.
The spacers won't hurt too much, they'll just leave your mouth a little sore. Some of them will fall out and your ortho will take the rest out when he puts on your braces. The actual process of getting your braces put on doesn't hurt at all, but feels kind of weird. A couple of hours later, you will start to feel the pain that is like 10 times worse than the spacers. This pain will last a couple of days, and the feeling of metal things on your teeth will leave you feeling really uncomfortable. To ease the pain, you can take some aspirin before you enter the ortho's office, and it should help a little.
It isn't too much to worry about or stress over. You can handle it.
Good luck!
:)

Aah, dont listen to these guys! *grinz*
The worst part about braces are the spacers. They are relaly uncomfortable and irritating. They feel like you got chunks of meat or corn stuck between your teeth, and you can't brush / pick them out!
The wors part of the whole expereince is the spacers.
The braces itself are nothing worse than the spacers. there are MORe of it than spacers, sure, but the discomfort factor is not that high.
I'm not saying you wont feel it - you will - but within 3, 4 days you'll be used to it and within a week you won't even realise you have 'em!
Enjoy, wear your elastics, and get yourself a great smile.

With spacers youll be a little sore for a day or so but not bad. With the braces, sorry to tell you that you will be very sore for the 1st few days after having them tightened. Take aspirin before you even go to yuor appointment, get plenty of wax becasue youll need it, and plan on eating soft foods. But it does go away within a few days and once you are done youll have a gorgeous smile.

My spacers hurt like a mofo because my teeth were so close together, the assistant had the hardest time putting them in....and I was sore and couldnt eat anything for a day...but I have to agree with everyone else when they say a few hours after your braces are first on...OMG! I coulnt eat ANYTHING for a week...I was pratically on a liquid diet. But once your teeth begin to shift, it won't hurt so bad. Take an asprin before you get them tightened. you should be ok.

i had spacers and braces when i was younger. i remember being pretty sore for the rest of the day when i first got them on and sometimes when they were tightened. it didn't really hurt, it was more of a dull ache all day. also you have to keep your mouth open for a long time during the first visits which makes your jaw sore. make sure you have a big meal before you go to the dentist because chewing might be painful afterwards. make sure you have some applesauce or mashed potatoes to eat later. hope that helps some. :)

Spacers only cause your teeth to spread out more. They only hurt a little. But braces hurt a bit more because they are causing your teeth to shift to another position so they can be straight.

It shouldn't hurt too bad. It really depends on how bad your teeth are though. It doesn't really hurt to get them on, and it doesn't really hurt getting them put in.. if that's what you mean. Just take some kind of pain reliever before you go to your apointment. Do that before you get the spacers in, and before you get your braces on. Like I said, it doesn't really hurt.. it's more just uncomfortable but I don't know how much "pain" you can handle. When I got mine on, I took stuff before my first few apointments.. because my teeth were hurtin from all the tightening they do. It only realy starts to hurt when you go back and they tighten them, but After your first couple times you wont need to take stuff.. you and your teeth will get used to it (:

No, they don't hurt. Take Tylenol before you go and then again 4 hours later. You'll be fine.
