The ODA amounts to 28 billion USD in total.

On the other hand, China is investing lots of money in space development and boosting military spending at a double-digit pace every year.

Don't you think Japan should stop it? Or is it reasonable for compensation for the war?

I don't mean I don't like Chinese people. I know some Chinese and they are sweet.

Japan should stop this right away. There is absolutely no reason why any nation should donate money to China with the Chinese sitting on $USD 100 billion trade surplus a year.

And don't give me that rubbish about WWII. The war ended 60 years ago & if Japan really wanted to send some money for war reparations how about sending them to nations like Malaysia or Indonesia.

You Chinese people are unbelievable. The Japanese are the largest investors in your country. You have a trade surplus of over $US100 billion for 2006 & you think the world owes you something. Hell if Japan wanted to give free money, they can do so to Malaysia, Indonesia or Philippines. Why don't you give freedom to Tibet?. You guys are no better than the Japs during WW2. You are doing the same things now to your own people...slavery...paying the people rubbish salary while the rich keep getting richer and your RMB10 DVD's...yup I can see copyright laws in China are so effective. Whatever....you guys are like the blacks in the US, whining and crying for things that happen years ago. How many blacks are born as slaves today in the US....0...yet they all expect to get spoon fed everyday like the world owes them something...well sorry....I disagree. I don't even think you were born during WW2. Heck why not invade Mongolia, I heard Genghis Khan & his army were pretty brutal too.

I think it's funny because the average Chinese person HATES Japan, and no matter how much money Japan throws at China this doesn't seem to change. In fact in the past couple years there has been more anti-Japan activity then ever in China, including Chinese protesters nearly destroying one of Japan's embassies.

Most of the Chinese know NOTHING about 3 trillion-yen Japanese ODA given for the reconstruction of post-war China. Without Japan money, PRC would never have reached their economic level today.

Chinese communist party is still hiding this fact for their anti-Japan propaganda. Instead, they are just repeating what they call "Japanese atrocity" during the WWII without showing any appreciation for Japan's extensive contribution to post-war China.

Japan's ODA to China was initiated based on Japan-China Joint Communique signed in 1972. Zhou Enlai renounced war reparations for "China-Japan friendly relations in the future." In response, Japanese government in 1978 decided to give PRC a total of 3 trillion-yen ODA for the following 25 years. Japan has completed its payment in 2003.

Nevertheless, PRC is still begging for money from Japan, saying "please give us more ODA; we are still a poor developing country." SHAME ON YOU CHINESE!

We will give you some more money so that you can build some decent-looking toilets for the visitors to Beijing Olympics. Nobody from overseas can tolerate the stinky Chinese shitt house. After that, you've got to wipe your assss yourself. OK?

War reparations are always a double edged sword - helping rebuild what was destroyed but also causing resentment. One reason for WW II were the WW I reparations being made by Germany to the victors.

Japan does owe her neighbors compensation for the losses of the war (and to Korea during the brutal occupation). Payments to China are just and agreed to by international law. Now, the question is: How long should they continue? Maybe, now is the time, with the growth of the Chinese economy.

I do believe that now that China is on its feet and has the fastest-growing economy in the world, that Japan should cease its ODAs soon. However, I wouldn't consider this ODA as unnecessary. China was dealt serious damage during Japan's invasion. It isn't at all light. Also, you must consider that Japan is doing this out of their own will now. China is not forcing them to pay them, as they are well wnough on their own. Also, in response to the post above, the rich in China are not becoming richer and the poor are not becoming poorer. You are mixing it up with America, my friend. And America isn't so peachy itself. 38% obesity rate, and a very high illiteracy/non-education/high-school-dropout/flunking rate.

1. Thanks for your ODA
2.ODA is not a kind of giving,it's a deal with the abnegation of indemnity.
3.95%+ amount is in the form of loans.
4.Japan has got a larger annual war fund over China for all the years since i was born.still i don't mind.
5. It's up to your government to stop it or not.i don't care.
6.I like Mai Kuraki and have got all her CD.

to grendeth:

WW2 is not a rubbish. It's the story about a gang of rubbish invading all their neighbourhoods.1931-1945 in China, and 1941-1945 in S.E.A,The rubbish gang murdered tens of millions of innocent ppl.We forgave that in hope these rubbish can be reclaimed one day.And we brought up tens of thouands of Japanese Orphans even when the country is still in its harsh days. That's why you can stand here claiming WW2 is rubbish.
