Age of Consent in Mass.?

I hear it is 16 for a girl, BUT I was taught in sex ed. class that at 16 you can legally have sex but with someone not over 18. I do NOT want to have sex but I want to date a guy 10 years older than me.

My question is, does the age of consent apply to dating? Is it illegal for him to date me, will it get us in trouble?
I have enough sense to not have sex till I am married so please do not bash me for this question...

Dating should be alright as long as there's not sex
