Everthing about my apartment right now is great except for one thing. The ceiling and floors are very thin in the building and I am constantly hearing the people above me walking around and making noise. I'm on the 4th floor of a 5 floor building. I need to get to the 5th floor so there is no more noise. That will probably mean moving into a studio apartment, because there are no one bedrooms available, and it may take several months or even years before one is, who knows. The noise is really driving me crazy. Should I just take anything on the 5th floor?

If the studio above is as good as the apartment you're in now (and of course you don't mind a studio apartment) then all else being equal go for it. If you're indecisive on it, there's probably a good reason not to take the plunge then.

Is it possible that you could get the landlord to insulate the ceiling? It wouldn't take much to install a drop ceiling in your apartment. Your rent may increase, or you could work out a deal with the landlord to pay for the installation yourself and deduct it from the rent as this will increase the value of the property. Your home should have a certain degree of peace & tranquility. It sounds as if you can resolve this noise issue, you would be very content where you are. Good Luck!

I would have to move. I know what you mean about upstairs neighbors. It's too oppressive for me. I would get creative about decorating and move to the studio -- and be on a wait-list for a one-bedroom up on the 5th floor.

take the studio..you do not need a bedroom..think about what you Need and what you Want...your need is greater than your want..my husbanc and I could easily live in a studio..we work alot and only use the bedroom for the bed..so it is a waste of space
take the studio
