what would you do about a neighbor who is trying to get you kicked out of your new apartment, i just moved in a couple of months ago. she is a senior who was really angry when me and my kids moved in and she made it clear to us that she doesn't want anyone to be living here because she claims people are too noisy!! she is always complaining and saying she is going to the manager about us, and she said the same thing about the person who lived here before us!! help!!

i have tried to talk to her and find out why she is so angry about people living here and she does live on the second floor. i thought we were cool until she started in on me and my kids all the time, complaining even when my kids aren't home!!

This seem awkward. I've been there with my wife and 5 year old kid, moving above a cynical old lady. She would be up all night and sleep all day, and complain we made too much niose at 8:00am... but kids like to move!! that's when things got out of hand
She would call every week to the landlord to complain, she would try to fabricate storys. she would write rude letter and tape them to my door. She was really bitter towards life.
We wrote letters do defend ourselvs from her lies to the landlord and to the tribunal, we stopped all communication with her, even the awknoldgement of her presence when we met at our front doors (unless she was really distrught, we helped. we're not mean at heart), she would always have nasty comments to say to us, but all we could do was record them paper and send the list to the landlord when things got too out of hand. We kept track on paper the things she would do to personally attack us. and after a year of immaturity from her, she gave up her fight against us and moved out.
I felt bad for her, she was truely sick, but you can't help a person who doesn't want to be helped. your'e on this planet to take care of you. hang in there, and keep on good terms with the landlord.

All you can do is be as pleasant to her as possible and make sure management is aware that her complaints are unreasonable. I don't know about the laws where you live but it's not that easy to evict someone who isn't breaking the law in most places, so it's doubtful you'll be kicked out. The manager probably has endured this behavior on her part before. Your only other alternative is to move.

sorry, but that's just part of living in an apartment. she's got to get used to the idea that she's not the only one that lives there, and other families live above and below her in their own homes. you get what you pay for. i've lived in apartments and condos my whole life, we weren't poor, we just moved around a lot and liked the lifestyle. i know we made noise that probably pissed the neighbors off, but I never got any complaints. and yea, the people who used to live above me had some loud *** kids, and the dude under us snored, and it wasn't a big deal. she probably needs to get out more, people, especially her age, should be out and about more instead of being cramped up in a little apartment. also i agree with somebody else who said to kill her with kindness.. just be friendly, so she looks like b*tch she really is.

On one hand she sounds like a bitter old witch who would rather eat kids than hear them. ON the other hand, noisy kids are really annoying no matter what your age is. Have you considered a go-between who is also a senior, like perhaps your own grandma?

Disarm her with a basket of home baked muffins. Smile at her when you see her. Ask her is she needs anything from the store when you go grocery shopping. Please make sure that your kids are not too noisy. Even bitter people respond well to kindness.

i think you should have a talk with management to find her a different apartment where she wouldnt be bothered so much. maybe put her in a second floor or near the office where there wouldnt be so many apartments surrounding hers.

have you tried making friends with her. Maybe make her some cookies or invite her over for coffee. Teach your kids to be respectful to her. Your kids could color pictures for her, make thing for her out of paper. You will need to win her over to your side. Ask her to give you advice on a recipie, or a sewing project or maybe help one of your kids with thier homework. Just be friendly to her. good luck
