The roads aren't bad.. It hasn't even snowed.
We're already delayed because of the temp.

I think it depends on the districts..... I remember my college didn't call off school when there was 2 feet of snow.

It all depends on the school system. If the delay is just for the cold, then the school will probably wait the two hours to decide if they close or not. It also depends on your school area. Are you a city school system where the majority of students have to walk to school? Or a county system where everybody is bused?
Perhaps the ones who have closed already have heating problems or there is snow/drifting/white outs involved.

It depends on the district. Most of the kids where I work walk to school. We were closed 3 times two years ago for low temperatures. Every other district was open because they ride buses.
I think we have to have a minus 20 wind chill to be closed. We are all hoping for a day off tomorrow. It's still Sunday night here in NY, but it's 5 degrees. Come on wind!!
*edit* Ha! I just checked the news - it's still Sunday night but they just cancelled school for Monday. Possibility of minus 30 wind chill. YIPEE!!!! (Now I can stay up late on Yahoo answers!!!)

It's not the temperature for the reason schools close down for the day. It's the road conditions. If the roads are snow packed but not hazardous the schools are usually put on a 2 hour delay. If the roads are hazardous the schools are shut down for the day.

Our district will close if the wind chill is below -20.
And for those other answerers, they close because it is too cold for kids to wait at a bus stop and because it's too cold to get the busses running and warm.
