Fainting may come from a sudden onset of hypotension (drop in blood pressure). Think of when you stand up too quickly and become light-headed. This is because the blood vessels in your lower extremities are dilated. So when you stand, your blood pools in there, and lacks the pressure to effectively perfuse your brain. If your brain is not fed the oxygen it needs, systems can temporarily shut down, even for a second or two. This will throw off your equlibrium and cause you to faint. Orthostatic hypotension, which I just described isnt all. Anything that will decrease systemic vascular resistance (dropping blood pressure) may make you faint, such as overdosing on narcotics, nitroglycerin, etc.

In fainting, your brain is starving for oxygen. Lack of enough oxygen can cause brain damage. I'm sure you don't want that. Why don't you talk to your parents about these plans that you have? You need someone to guide you and give you solid advice. Don't listen to your friend on this one.

Don't eat for a while, and drink very little water, and stand up quickly when you were lying down. These will make you sick, nauseous, and light-headed.
I don't know why you can't fake a cold like everyone else, though.

Not a good idea. You could fall and break a bone or hurt your head.
Just go to work, or take a sick day.

You can't. Your blood pressures had to get extremely low and you can't force it.
