You should check out disneyland.com for lists of things to do! You can look up things to do based on the ages of the people coming with you and all that.
There is SO much to see at Disneyland...be sure to check out Pirates of the Carribean! And then there's California Adventure...check out Tower of Terror! And then about 10 minutes from Disneyland Resort is Knott's Berry Farm...check out GhostRider! You should definitely be able to hit all three parks in 8 days. Have fun!

8 days at the Disneyland Resort alone is way too much.
You only need 2 full days to do everything in Disneyland, and as for California Adventure, 1 day is more than enough. Even if you add a "relaxing" day of just shopping and going to a movie in Downtown Disney, that's still leaves you with a lot of down time. (Total = 4 days)
If you want to make it a full theme park vacation, you should probably arrange for daytrips to Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios (Total = 6 days). From Disneyland...
Universal offers a free shuttle bus to anyone who buys a ticket online:
http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/hollywood/website/vi_freeshuttle.html
And you can get to Knott's via a taxi or the Pacific Coast Coach:
http://www.pacificcoastgrayline.com/
On the final day, you might want to head to the beach. Orange County has some great beaches (Total = 7 days). Again, inquire with your hotel about transport options...

Eight days is plenty of time to do everything at the Disneyland Resort. To make best use of your time in the parks go to http://www.ridemax.com/ and pay for the program (90-day subscription). It calculates a schedule for you inside the parks that minimizes walking and waiting time for the rides. I'm an annual pass holder and I know from experience that it works very well.
Contrary to the thought that being on a schedule is stressful it is not. It actually allows for a more stress-free day due to having shorter wait times and less walking as well as less headaches for deciding what to go on next. Sometimes the wait times are so short that it feels like you are on a tour.
But don't buy the program too far in advance because scheduling will only be available for the current month and the next month. So you may want to wait until about two months before your trip to purchase this program subscription.
And if you are going during the offpeak season you may opt to save the $15 (not purchase it) because it won't help too much.

What time of the year are you going? If Fantasmic is running you most definatly have to see it! it runs a little before, a little after, and durring summer. Go to the later viewing. People score seats for the early one like 5 hours before it starts (yes its that good!) then it runs, then there are fireworks, and a lot of people go home, and you can get more then decent seats. Other then that, I am going to need a little more info; are you staying at the one of the disneyland hotels, are your tickets for both parks, are you getting 8 days worth of park time, are you traveling with kids ect... you can e-mail me if you want, I live in the area and (though I dont currently hold a pass :( ) I was a pass holder for 16 years, and have gone more times then I can count. I have gone with friends, boyfriends, and kids (not mine, I dont have any, but everyone has a pass around here and it really passes the time while babysitting) so anything you could possibly need or want to know about the park (or area since I live in it) I can help you out with! I am nmsosnoski@yahoo.com (obviously) and I check it alot... just put something in the subject box so I dont discard you as junk mail :)

I think it depends if you're traveling with kids, what age, height, and of course if they are EXTREMELY sensitive. Here is a list of things to do and rides to visit:
1.Space Mountain
2.Matterhorn
3.Thunder Mountain Railroad
4.Splash Mountain
5.Indiana Jones
7.Pirates of the Caribbean (Jack and scenes from the movies)
8.Haunted Mansion
9.Shows like Fantasmic or parades
California Adventure directly across Disneyland park hopper:
1.Soarin (virtually soaring over California experience mists and smells)
2.Grizzly Rapids (you might get soaked,I've been on 10 times and nothing)
3.Sun Wheel (sure looks like a plain Ferris wheel but if you choose the swinging side you're sure to scream!)
4.Swing in what I think looks like a peach (height requirement)

Avoid criss-crossing the park from one land to another, it just eats up valuable standing in line time.
Try to get there before the park opens, then RUN to the most popular attraction to beat the queue.
Of course, in winter on a weekday, it won't be so crowded.
Of course, if you are spending Eight days there, waiting in line will be the least of your problems.
Have a great time.
