Have you ever drank Kava for its calming effects? After a few cups I learned you have to drink about 20-25 cups of it to feel its effects. On top of that, it takes 30 mins or so to start to feel its effects. With Kava being 80%-90% water, I just dont hold that much liquid! So I was wondering if there was any way to speed up that relaxation feeling and maybe take a muscle relaxer with it. Does anyone know if this is dangerous or is it a great idea? Kava is a root that is ground up and mixed with water. It is 100% natural-it is not like alcohol, but rather like tea, and so Im thinking this would be okay. What do you think? What has been your experience with Kava?

No I do not want to drink any alcohol, and I WOULD smoke weed but it is illegal.

I never did drink Kava, when I was in maui I had 1/2 a maui woowee kava chocolate candy bar in the airport and after a small period of time both I and my newly married wife experenced a dramatic calming effect.. almost on the level of calm found after a period of time in a meditiation chamber, or a good massage.

Kava, properly prepared, does NOT cause liver damage. As for Mormons drinking kava, yes they can. No, it is not against the word of wisdom. Edit: I might add that we have been counseled to avoid chronic consumption of kava, but for ceremonial purposes or occasional usage it is fine. From a doctrinal perspective, kava is allowed. In Hawaii and other Pacific islands, many Mormons consume Kava. In the rest of the world, most have never even heard of it. And you still have a few people out there that ignorantly believe it causes liver damage.
