The thing is that That Northic Religion is not followed no more, I think It even fit into paganism. but I I didnt knwo about God or Other gods I would probably belive In Thor
What hapens is the same with greeks, its like asking why you don't belive in Zeus, because those religions are long outdated. :D
I have to say something avbout the answer avobe. In each religion there has been something written By REAL ppl, otherwise the religion wouldn't exist. lets take for example The greek gods, as in the bible many people contributed with stories of what they "saw" or heard (Not denying the Bible, I am Catholic :D) such as the greek myths, there are thousands of them that tell about the gods and give an explanation about the world, Lets Compare The Odessey and the illiad with the Bible, they both give teaching about being wise and having a good life, they where both written by real ppl (duh) The tales ofd the Ods. & Iliad. where writen by Homer (You bet he existed!) and the Bible was written by many ppl such as Lucas & John.
The diference between the Ods. & Iliad, & the Byble is that the O. & I where written as a research like-way Homer was a story teller and he fused his knowlege with the knowlege of other ppl who knew the story too and from ppl that passed down to him, so the events in the Ods. & the Iliad are not so accurate, but the main idea exists, that a war was fought of Grece against Troy. In teh Byble the writer where many, and each telled their stories on their own way and manner, (as far for the new testament) so the Byble is also Unaccurate though the main idea exists, that Jesus existed and was the Mesiah of its people. As the Bible the Ods. & Ilad. where not written after what even was writen hapened, it was written Before (not to long ago but It was) and you are not gonna come here and tell me that Troy didnt exist, because it did, though I do not belive that all the Divine things that hapened in the Ods. & Iliad. hapened, as in the Bible i belive that these books are shrowded with Myths, Facts, Fantasy and Hystory.

That's if we were, but we're not. Simple. And that wouldn't be the case.
[1] Say (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)): "He is Allah, (the) One.
[2] "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).
[3] "He begets not, nor was He begotten;
[4] "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."
[Qur’aan Surah al-Ihklaas 112:1-4]
Look at the fourth/last verse, "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." This shows that God is not like us, and we are not like Him, and we are not even comparable to Him.
Why do Muslims say Allaah is One?
Because He is One, the only One worthy of worship, and the only One who we should ask for help. No one should be associated along with Him, or worshipped besides Him, or anything, and we are told this many times throughout the Qur'aan.
Allaah alone is the Lord, the Creator, the Provider… the Sovereign, the Controller… the All-Knowing, All-Wise… the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all that exists… The All-Hearing, All-Seeing… The Subtle and Courteous, the All-Aware… the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful… the Ever-Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving… the Almighty, the Compeller… the Oft-Pardoning, the Most Generous… the Most Strong, the All-Powerful… the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms…
To Him belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, in His hand is goodness and He is able to do all things.
We don't care about this thor, or any other so called god. There's only One, who is Allaah. Simple as.

Jaded_poser:
People don't 'only believe what is fed them', plenty of people choose religions differing from the one they grew up with, so who exactly is influencing them? Religion is a personal choice, ok some people are indoctrinated by their parents from an early age and don't think outside what they grew up with but many, many people discover their own beliefs themselves and get to know the spiritual side of things in their own way. Maybe they stay with their original religion, maybe they don't, it's all a matter of faith. Interestingly enough, the view that all religious types only believe what they're told is something that non-religious people like to feed others.

interestingly, the lower the IQ and educational level, the higher the level of supernaturalism.....
Says who? I have a higher than average IQ and am educated and yet I believe in the divine and the supernatural, I have actually experienced quite a lot of both. Pretending that anything that science can't explain is superstitious nonsense is an incredibly narrow attitude, especially for a historian. The Greeks and Romans had amazing culture and learning but both were highly religious and superstitious, are you suggesting they were all simple because of this? Sweeping statements like that are not only unfounded but untrue.
I personally don't believe in (although I think you mean worship) Thor because I've never seen any evidence that he is real or a god. God(Elohim) on the other hand has been a part of my life since i was very young.

Hehe, actually I do believe in Thor, he happens to be one of my favorites (what some would call a patron deity). I'm an Asatruar, for those who don't know what that is, it's someone who worships the Norse Gods. So for anyone who *thinks* they have a "highly educated opinion" yet has the audacity to claim that Thor and the other Norse Gods are no longer worshiped, think again.
People believe in that Middle Eastern deity only because they are taught to and do not understand that he is not the only option.

People pretty much believe in what they were taught, even if it makes no sense.... Ra makes no more sense than does the god of Abraham, Thor, Zeus, Apollo, or any other supernatural critter....... ah well,,,interestingly, the lower the IQ and educational level, the higher the level of supernaturalism.....

Then they'd probably believe in Thor.
Edit: And screw all you idiots who are so quick to debase Thor, there is NO proof in God, nor Thor, so don't insult, as either or could exist.

I am not Scandinavian.
My faith in Jesus Christ comes from within me. I am not sure why it is there. I may see GOD as Thor if that is all I knew but Jesus was revealed to me. So you have never heard about Jesus? e-mail me and I will gladly fix that.

In Christianity, there are historically accurate eyewitness accounts that prove that Jesus performed miracles, and appeared to over 300 people after he had been crucified. He was raised from the dead - had holes where he was nailed to the cross - and was seen and talked to by real people - who wrote it down. That happened with as much historial accuracy as the life of any of the Roman Emperors.
People who new Jesus Christ, watched him die on the cross, and saw him raised from the dead, went to their death because they wouldn't change their stories. If it was made up - some of them would have backed off to save their necks - NONE OF THEM DID THAT.
Christianity has multiple written eye-witness accounts of what actually happened.
