My hair is incredibly curly and dye relaxes it. my natural hair color is a really light brown with blonde and strawberry blonde highlights that are natural. i want to dye it black but my mom won't let me. she thinks that it would look to old and that i can do it when i move out. i think that it is my hair and i should decide what it looks like.

I have the EXACT same problem. My hair`s the same color and i want it dyed black too. But my mom`s "iffy" [pronouced= if e] about it. Just try begging, or tell her it`ll just be tempoary, or if it turns out horrible then you can dye it back.

Tell her it's YOUR life, and YOUR hair. She's not the one who's doing it, so why should she care? I mean, as long as you're not doing some freaky hairdo, I don't see the wrong in just simply changing a color. You're right, being different and all. Especially if you're going to be the one paying for it. I've been in this same position you have. My mother wouldn't let me put highlights in. I had to show her I REALLY wanted them, and I had to prove to her that I'd be happy with the results. You could even go out on a limb and (try not to be disrespectful) tell her that she's being a hypocrite when she dyes hers and won't let you do yours. And honestly, you're not going to see any drastic results to your hair if you've never done it before. Yes, doing it 3x every month WILL damage it, but just once won't hurt. Try telling her that you only live ONCE! I hope I helped. :) & good luck!

You could always just do it and then face the consequences. However, if your natural color is what you described. Is your skin complexion light? Black hair my wash you out.

You might like getting some chocolate brown low-lights instead of going totally black. Black is very difficult to remove and you will end up with high-maintenance due to the root regrowth.

DONT DYE YOUR HAIR BLACK, ITS SOOO 1989 AHHAHA OK JK BUT....YOUR NATURAL HAIR COLOR IS DRASTICALLY LIGHTER THAN BLACK, AND IF YOU DYE YOUR HAIR BLACK, YOULL HAVE TO GET THE COLOR STRIPPED, AND YOU CAN ONLY DO THAT PROFESSIONALY, OR YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR YOUR HAIR TO GROW BACK. BAAAAAAAD IDEA.

PS. a friend dyed her hair black and that was 7 months ago...it hasnt faded at all

First Off, why would you want to dye it black?? Your natural color sounds pretty and I'm sure it looks right on you. black hair on you would look displaced and kind of fake...seriously. If you do insists on dying it then I would recommend a medium-dark brown.

ask her to relax it instead. she might be a little more willing and understanding. the whole coloring it makes it easier to deal with sounds a little outrageous. few people can pull off black dye and its hard to repair so beware.

If you got black hair, I think it would change peoples perspective on you. and your hair is probably naturally gorgeous whether you see it or not. In ten years, looking back on your hair.. are you going to regret dying it black anyway?

There's no age requirement to purchase hair coloring as far as I know. Just do it. Your mom will deal. It's just hair, if you don't like it, it'll grow back.
