The link appears obvious. What happens when one species thinks every other aspect of creation was put there merely as toys and tools for itself? Zero respect, that's what. Animals, plants, soil and air become economic goods for human desires ... and the environment pays the price for something that regularly touts its humility. In fact, it is the greatest arrogance and selfishness.

Well, I would love to agree with you on this, but I dont think it holds up. Right now the worst polluters in the world are India and China, neither of which are influenced by western religion. Arrogance seems to be an all too human trait. By the way, there are some evangelical christians who have taken up the environment as a cause.
PS I am an atheist, so I am not saying this out of religous belief.

I think that abundance of a natural resource leads to the depletion of said resource.
When the spanish came to the new world, they reported that the schools of codfish would slow the ships down and there were so many of them they would feed the world "unto eternity".
And now the cod are endangered, people are forced to fish for jellyfish now, something unimaginable 20 years ago.
And yet they keep doing it and keep wasting it.
Why? because religion dictates that man is the master of the world and we can use it as we see fit. This, like everything else religion says, is utter bull flops.

Environmental devastation is found in most cultures on this planet. The only difference is in degree due to the populations involved.

Boy are You ever reaching! Now pollution is all the fault of the Christians?!
What about when you have diarrhea is that our fault too? It is obvious that "Greater is HE who is in me than he who is in the world." because we Christians sure are expected to take the weight of the world's woes on it's shoulders.

Yes, pretty much.

Their mistaken (and literal) interpretation of 'The Fall' past down an inherent disregard, and often outright animosity, toward nature.

I don't think it's fair to blame religion. God never said do this stuff.

Culture, maybe, but not religion.

Of course the EASTERN culture and religions are making it easy to do it by supplying us with the oil.
