Heres the deal, I'm tring to switch over to linux and I have possibly the biggest problem I could think of, the included media player does not have the codecs so I can view my stash of adult entertainment...anyway, is there any codec or player that supports wmv format, as well as a general one that supports mpg, avi (mainly divx), and other standard formats.

VLC player should play all of those, though it may have trouble with DRM or the newest wmv files. Besides Media Player its self, VLC is the best there is in playing wmv files.

the problem you have is all of those formats (except for avi and mpeg) are closed source. you can find codecs that are close to being compatible, but you will never find codecs that will work as well on linux as they do on windows. Just dual boot, problem solved.
