I know it's half Pit Bull and half Doberman. I've come close to
shooting it (after it went after my son). They say they're looking for
someone who wants it. What would you do?

I've already notified the authorities only to be told there wasn't anything they could do
until an incident happened. Are you telling me I should wait until the dog kills someone to take action?!?

I just got off the phone with animal control
only to to be told that the only way to get help was to wait until the dog attacks or
threatens to. Animal Control doesn't exist
in this town. I would have to pay a fee for
them to catch the dog. Compare their fee of $50.00 to the price of a bullet. I don't want to but I'm running out of options!

Forget animal control! The last time animal control ever helped me was never! I called animal control once and they told me to "be nice" to a 15-20 Pnd bull dog who's looking at me like I'm a piece of chopped liver. So if you have to deal with a neighbors dog here's my advice.... take matters into your own hands.

I would suggest getting in touch with a Humane Society in your area if you have one in your area. I would also look into can you force them to keep the dog leashed? If it is coming in your yard you might be able to file a complaint that way with the police. Or keep contacting the police department. Maybe eventually they will get tired and act on it. Its to bad stuff like that happens, I am an avid animal lover and end up with many in my home because I cant stand to see them put down. HOWEVER there is a time when it is necesarry to protect people, after all animals are animals. Good luck!!

I had the same problem except it was a female Rottweiler. She is really mean but likes other dogs. I have two boxers and kids. She has growled at my kids before. The neighbors told me it was my responsiblity to repair the fence that she getting thru. The fence wasnt even mine. I got tired of dragging and chasing their dog around so I called the animal patrol and had her taken out of my yard. That really made the neighbors mad but Ive asked numerous times to keep the dog contained on their property. I put up my own fence and left a 1 1/2 ft gap between my fence and theirs so if their dog gets out itll roam around somewhere else. It gets out all the time. I know it sounds bad but it isnt my problem anymore and hope someone picks her up and takes better care of her than they do..

I agree, calling Animal Control would be best if you thought it was an active threat to you or someone you know.

But before doing that, ask yourself what your reaction would be if the dog were a Golden Retriever. For all I know, the dog might be a legitimate threat. However, breed discrimination is common, so consider it.

If you can't get help from anyone. I would throw it a piece of meat
with rat poison on it. Forget the law, If you try doing it the legal I guarantee you it will take forever! Save some time and just kill it!!

Hey... Is it possible to look up a rescue for dobi's and see if they may be able to pick her up... this should be your neighbors duty, I know. Your patience is kind. Thank you for not acting on your thought. This is so unfortunate!
This IS a situation that should be reported!

I would call the Animal shelter and make a report about any incident that have occurred. They will make a decision about what to do with the dog. Please do not shoot it. It is a crime to do that.
